Scott Crone is in his eighth year serving as Councillor in East Gwillimbury, bringing over twenty years of corporate leadership, deep community roots, and a proven record of getting things done.

Before entering public service, Scott built a distinguished career in the insurance industry. Starting as an agent, he rose to Vice President of Underwriting & Distribution, where he managed multi-million-dollar budgets and oversaw nearly half a billion dollars in capital and assets as part of an executive leadership team. His experience spans everything from local Main Street businesses to the corporate corridors of Bay Street.

Scott’s roots in East Gwillimbury run six generations deep, but his vision is firmly focused on the future. He’s seen this community transform firsthand and believes that what makes EG special is the bond between those who built it and those who chose it. Everyone who calls East Gwillimbury home is part of this story.

His record speaks for itself. When Mount Albert was left without a bank or financial institution, Scott stepped up, playing a pivotal role in attracting DUCA Credit Union and securing a vital economic anchor for residents and small businesses. He worked with York Regional Police and town staff to successfully shut down illegal cannabis grow operations threatening the community.

He has championed expanded broadband access across East Gwillimbury, with a focus on underserved rural areas. And as Chair of Parks & Recreation, Scott has been focused on improvements to trails and parks and supported the construction of the Health and Active Living Plaza (HALP), which includes EG’s first pool, gymnasium and indoor playground.

Scott’s commitment to community extends well beyond Council chambers. He served seven years as a volunteer board member for the Alzheimer’s Society of York Region, stepping up to lead as Board Chair for two terms, and was a founding member of East Gwillimbury’s very first Environmental Advisory Committee, as well as part of establishing EG’s Chamber of Commerce. When he’s not serving his community, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, and watching movies.  Scott graduated from York University, where he studied political science and business.

My parents, Ruby and Murray lived in East Gwillimbury their entire lives, farming the land, running a bakery, and operating a Christmas tree farm. Watching them build something from the ground up, season after season, taught me more about hard work and community than any classroom ever could. They showed me that showing up – for your family, your neighbours, and your town, isn’t a burden, it’s a privilege.

My brothers and I were raised with those values, and they’re the same ones I carry into every decision I make on Council and every door I will knock on in this campaign.  And every single day, as your Mayor, as your neighbour, as a sixth-generation East Gwillimbury resident who believes in this place, I will show up to do that work!
